Fort Myers, Florida native, Cantrella Canady, obtained her education in the Lee County School system. She attended Cypress Lake High School as well as the Cypress Lake Center for the Arts. There, she majored in Vocal Performance and was very active in Regional and State Competitions for choir and individual performance where she earned Excellent and Superior ratings throughout her Junior and Senior high school years. She was a dedicated member of the local Scholar’s Club and Vice President of the National Spanish Honor Society.

Continuing in her quest for excellence, Cantrella attended Edison State College as a recipient of the Bright Futures Scholarship. She became an active member of the Florida African American Student Association where she not only served as President for her local chapter, but she also held positions of Region IV Coordinator, Region IV Director, and Vice President of Programs on the State Board Executive Committee from 2004 to 2006. It was during this time that Cantrella discovered her passion for public speaking and presentations. She also performed with several singing groups and joined local community radio stations as an on-air personality and sound engineer. She also began to cultivate her experience in the Hospitality industry by working at various resorts in the Southwest Florida area while obtaining her Associate and Bachelor degrees.

After acquiring her Associate of Arts degree at Edison State College, Cantrella transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University to pursue her Bachelor of Arts in Communication. During this course of studies, Cantrella discovered another passion: Theater. She declared Theater as her minor while performing with several local theater companies in productions including “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf”, “Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play”, and “The Bluest Eye”.

When she isn't on stage bringing characters to life, Cantrella enjoys her free time by listening to all genres of music, attending live theatrical performances, spending time with her family, and traveling at any opportunity she gets.
